Strengthening local conservation work of sea turtles of Escobilla indigenous community cooperative during COVID crisis
The mission of the project is to support and strengthen the conservation work of the Escobilla indigenous community cooperative by organizing the management of their activities, such as patrolling the beach, collecting nests to protect them from poachers, as well as measuring the impact of the cooperative work through releasing hatchlings during COVID crisis. In addition, the project will be focused on raising awareness in the community and visitors about the sea turtle species and their threatened state.
We aim to relocate approximately 1.000 sea turtle nests, up to 8.0000 eggs protected, reaching more than 50.000 hatchlings released to the sea. Approximately, 2.300 visitors will be aware about the threats of sea turtles and it will provide 23 direct jobs.
