Community Stewardship for red panda conservation via red panda conservation chapter drafting in operational plan of community forest in Nepal.

Even if, local communities are doing best from the present level of their skills and knowledge, majority of the community members are unaware of wildlife-based management tools and techniques and policy and strategic intervention.

Hence, this project aims to assist the Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs) who take the custodian of Community Forest (CF) management to draft red panda conservation chapter in operational plan of CF of Khotang District. The devise of operational plan will provide unique opportunity for community stewardship to conserve red panda as flagship species of their own with enhanced local effort.

The principle of causality for the project is that the community identifies contextual challenges and threats to red panda conservation and finds possible solution after capacity enhancement to be addressed by operational plan. To attain this aim, we will conduct awareness and sensitization campaign, capacity building workshops for leadership development of CFUGs to draft red panda conservation chapter.
